The Players Club consists of a group of like minded people.
Steve and Ellie Owen & son Jordan,
Ian and Di Patterson,
Dave Wilson
Chris & Fay Carpenter.
Being the first people to bring competitive sanctioned weightpull to England in May 2005 we held our first event at an A.B.A. sanctioned show with judges, Mark Landers and Steve Lewis under the Northern Players American Bulldog Club (NAPBC)....
The Players Club was formed on the 4th November 2006, and was set up for the sole purpose of hosting sanctioned United Pulling Federation (UPF) events in the United Kingdom.
The Players Club is a non profitable club and does not offer a membership service. Anyone is welcome to attend any of our events. We actively encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this canine sport under the rules set out by the UPF. We also encourage and support anyone wishing to host an event under the UPF rules. We felt the need to establish this club to dissasociate weight pull from a club established for just one breed, the American Bulldog. The UPF is an all breed federation and hosting pulls under the NPABC has at times caused confusion. All future pulls hosted by ourselves will be promoted and sponsered by "The Players Club". We would like to stress at this point that The Players Club does not have the sole rights to host UPF sanctioned events in the UK. We would welcome and support anyone wishing to host their own UPF sanctioned pulls....
The Players Club UK has helped set other clubs together including, The Players Club Scotland and The Players Club Germany, although we would like to stress we have no involvement in the running of these clubs. We also assisted with Sweden and Denmark in apprenticing judges from both countries, so that they too were able to host sanctioned events.
If you would like to know more about becoming a judge or hosting an event, please do not hesitate to contact any of The Players Club members.
